Executive Creative Director
Todd’s mother encouraged him to become an allergist because it seemed like steady work. But uninspired at the prospect of spending his life injecting people with pollen in hopes of eliciting a skin irritation, he instead pursued an equally tedious career as a writer.
He worked in San Francisco for several years before eventually migrating to Boston, Baltimore, Detroit and finally Milwaukee. It’s as if Todd only moves to a city with worse weather than the last. Throughout his itinerant life he has had the honor of working at agencies like Digitas, Y&R, Doner, and of course his favorite by far, C-K.
If you’re a client, Todd will tell you that nothing is more satisfying than creating an integrated campaign that overdelivers on a challenging business objective. But get a drink or two in him and you’ll learn that he surprisingly likes winning creative awards, too. He has been recognized by the One Show, Communication Arts, the Obies, Graphis, Archive and the ADDYs, to name a few. He is especially proud that his work has been awarded across multiple disciplines. The “Letters of Peace” campaign for Paper and Packing was recognized by the Adweek Arc Awards as one of the top 20 examples of branded storytelling in the world. An interior redesign of the Metro Market grocery store chain garnered a Shopper Marketing Effie for aisle innovation. And the “Naughty Bags” condom brand created to stem inner-city teen pregnancy won a David Ogilvy award for creative use of research in advertising, as well as a Shorty Award for social media content.
He has lead creative development on a myriad of national brands including Expedia, Progressive, Ford, L.L. Bean, Comcast, Sirius Satellite Radio, Paper and Packaging, Loctite, Johnsonville Sausage, Ski-Doo, Can-Am, Kroger/Roundy’s and Rain-X. Man, that’s a lot. He must be tired.
When Todd isn’t working, he is likely cherishing the time he spends with his two teenagers, trying to fool trout into eating a fly tied with his own beard hair, playing particularly undisciplined blues piano, cooking meat on one of his many meat-cooking apparatuses or sneezing. Because, yes, he suffers from seasonal allergies.
